The SURVIVE! GSO-4.7 is a new model for 2015 and is replacing the GSO-5 in new production. This is a full sized knife in a very purposeful, compact package. The 4 3/4" blade features a strong spear point that makes it well suited for a wide variety of tasks. The very ergonomic, generously sized handles will make this knife a favorite among a wide spectrum of user types. With a .175" blade thickness this knife is robust enough to tackle even the most demanding cutting chores with confidence.
Our high quality Torx T-25 style fasteners are precision machined from 416 stainless steel. Key features of the kydex sheaths include: excellent retention, drain channels, and several attachment options with slots and eyelets, in addition to the kydex clip. The peened finish on the blade provides extra durability and is non-reflective. The spine is sharp enough for use with most ferro rods.
Disclaimer:
- You are not required to purchase a kydex sheath with your order but it is HIGHLY recommended that you do so.
A bit about the steel used in SURVIVE! Knives:
CPM-3V is a high alloyed tool steel, made using the Crucible Particle Metallurgy process, that has a very high impact toughness and excellent edge holding. Being made with the CPM process, this steel is also very resistant to lateral stress (flex) breakage, making it a perfect choice for a high performance, hard use knife. CPM-3V is not a stainless alloy and can stain if not cared for. Check out the CPM-3V Data Sheet.
CPM-20CV is a very high quality martensitic stainless steel, with outstanding corrosion resistance and excellent edge holding. CPM-20CV does lack the impact toughness of CPM-3V but being made with the CPM process, this steel is still very resistant to lateral stress (flex) breakage. Consider CPM-20CV for a very low maintenance, all weather cutting tool. Here is the CPM-20CV Data Sheet.
CPM-154 is a high quality CPM version of the very popular 154cm cutlery steel. While it does lack the edge retention of a steel like CPM-20CV or even CPM-3V, this steel is much easier to resharpen and maintain and takes a beautiful polished edge. CPM-154 also offers improved toughness when compared to CPM-20CV. We've recieved some customer requests for this steel, so we've decided to offer a special run of it.

still can't believe how well built
Posted by Stephen F on May 9th 2016
I got my gso 4.7 a couple of weeks ago it was a factory 2nd I bought it not for the 20 bucks I would save but because I wanted one and I didn't want to wait forever to receive one. Let me start off by saying that if it took a year it would have been ok with me. I own several fixed blade knives (mostly high end ) and I still can't get over the look and feel of this knife ! As for the (factory 2nd) ... lol ,there was a small dot the size of a pin head on the side of the blade and that was it I couldn't believe it . I just told my girlfriend that once I get the 3.5 I will never buy another knife and I hate to even say those words but this time I mean it ! Thanks Survive! For the time and care that you put into my knife I will use it forever and gladly pass it down to my son when I have no more use for it .
